Introduction
This 2 euro coin, issued by Slovakia in 2011, celebrates the 20th anniversary of the formation of the Visegrad Group. In addition, the group’s logo, consisting of the stylized letter “V”, appears at the top right, symbolizing their alliance. Below, the name of the issuing country “SLOVENSKO” is written vertically.
Around the central motif, the inscription “VYŠEHRADSKÁ SKUPINA” appears at the top and “VISEGRAD GROUP” at the bottom, indicating the name of the group in Slovak and English. In addition, the years “2011” and “15.2.1991” respectively recall the year of issue and the date of founding of the group. On the right, the initials “MK” and the symbol of the Kremnica Mint (Mincovňa Kremnica) confirm the manufacturing workshop.
Twelve stars of the European Union surround the central design, forming a circle. This starry circle symbolizes the unity and harmony of the EU member countries. Furthermore, the arrangement of the graphic elements creates a balanced and meaningful composition, reflecting the importance of the Visegrád Group for the region.
